Freshman Andrea Felix scored the game-winning goal with 12 minutes to play to lift the Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over California (Pa.) University in the season-opener Thursday night.

In a rematch of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game, The Rock got a first-half goal from another freshman, Dara Demich.

Dana O’Neill got the win in goal for SRU with five saves.

Men’s SoccerSlippery Rock University opened it season with a scoreless draw at Lake Erie on Thursday.Both teams recorded 18 shots in the double overtime affair. SRU had an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
