SRU nets soccer victory
SHEPHERD, W.Va. —Four players scored for Slippery Rock University in a 4-0 men’s soccer win over Shepherd Sunday.
Zach Hall, Stephen Donnelly, Stephen McConahy and Peter Boylan each scored for The Rock.
Hall and Donnelly also added assists for SRU (1-0-1).
Field Hockey SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University field hockey team bounced back from a loss on Saturday to down Assumption 3-1 Sunday afternoon.Junior Lindsay Brown scored her second goal in as many games and added an assist. Freshmen Renee Rosenblum and Megan McKay also scored for The Rock (1-1).
FootballGROVE CITY — Grove City College rushed for 251 yards as the Wolverines rolled to a 28-10 win over Carnegie Mellon at Robert E. Thorn Field Saturday afternoon.Senior quarterback Brian Pell ran for a game-high 98 yards and two touchdowns for Grove City. He also completed 11-of-23 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.Sophomore tailback Steve Maskrey added a career-high 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground.It was the Wolverines largest margin of victory over CMU since a 26-7 win in 1997.CMU had not lost a season opener since 1998.
