M. Joan Dickey, 86, of Mercer, formerly of Slippery Rock, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, following a brief illness.

Joan was born on Dec. 3, 1935, to William F. and Edith A. (McKnight) Bollinger.

Joan grew up in Grove City and graduated from Grove City High School in 1954.

She met her future husband, A. Bruce Dickey, during high school. They married on June 10, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2020.

For 66 years, they lived, farmed, and raised their five children on the Dickey farm, in Worth Township, Butler County.

Joan worked various jobs, but most recently she was a cashier at Giant Eagle in Slippery Rock.

She was a member of North Liberty Presbyterian Church and the Worth Grange.

Joan was the majority inspector of elections in Worth Township for 40 years.

Survivors included a son, Daryl B. Dickey of New Castle; three daughters, Sherree L. (George) Hack of Mercer, Dawn L. (Joe) Staph of Pleasantville, and Karen J. (Tom) Finnegan of Mercer; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Kathy) Schultz of Volant.

Her parents; husband; a son, Douglas T. Dickey; and two brothers, Fred Schultz and Gary Bollinger, preceded Joan in death.

DICKEY — Visitation hours for M. Joan Dickey, who died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, Grove City.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Keystone Blind Association, 3056 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148.

Burial will be held in West Liberty Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.
