Moniteau off to solid start
It’s been quite a week for Moniteau School District.
The new school year began Monday, Aug. 27, with a student tradition to meet at sunrise, and the day ended with a school board meeting recognizing Moniteau as a ‘Great Pennsylvania School.’
This follows a Friday football game that prompted a rambunctious celebration — the first varsity football win in two years.
The recognition came Monday from the Pennsylvania School Board Association and serves as a designation that recognizes public school districts in Pennsylvania that meet criteria in four categories: providing students with access to rigorous programming, being community-centric, demonstrating financial well-being and displaying resilience.
The award has been given to only 49 of the state’s approximately 500 public school districts.
At the Monday meeting, superintendent Aubrie Schnelle said the district went through an application process before receiving the designation.
There’s good things happening in Moniteau, and those in the district have a reason to be “Moniteau proud.”
We wish students, staff and families of Moniteau the best in the coming school year.
