College sports roundup: BC3 women’s volleyball, No. 10 in nation, opens season 3-0

Butler County Community College women’s volleyball is off to a 3-0 start after Monday’s 3-0 sweep of Cuyahoga Community College.

The Pioneers, ranked No. 10 in the nation among junior colleges, won by set scores of 25-6, 25-20, 25-22. Anora Robare dished out 21 assists, and Josie Russo knocked down 17 kills. Sarah Lucas had 12 digs, and Marissa Metzka had six blocks.

BC3 plays again 6 p.m. Friday at home against Penn Highlands Community College.

Prior to Monday’s win, the Pioneeers swept Erie Community College 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-7, 25-22 on Saturday and beat Lakeland Community College 3-1 (25-18, 25-14, 27-29, 27-25) before that. Robare averaged 29 assists in those matches, and Russo averaged 15.5 kills, with nine blocks against Lakeland.
