ELECTION ESSAYS
Members of the Butler Rotary Club pose with the club's three essay contest winners this year. From left, Abigail Schmidt, a Butler High School student, placed third and received $100; Julianne Bobby, also a Butler High School student, placed second and received $200; and Jackie Cypher, a Knoch High School student, placed first in the contest and won $500. Rotarians Jack Barkley, back row left, and Dr. William DiCuccio, back row right, helped present the awards to the students. The contest was held for students at Butler and Knoch high schools this year. They were asked to write an essay of 500 words or less on the topic of why it's important to vote on election day. The awards were presented April 12 at a special dinner.
