Try your hand at trivia at the Butler Area Public Library
The Butler Area Public Library had its first trivia night in June, and it will have a second one at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
Dianne McCauley, the library’s adult services coordinator, said the trivia is general knowledge, and people of all ages can compete for a small prize and bragging rights. The library gets the questions through a company recommended by the American Library Association, McCauley said, so the questions and their answers are as accurate as possible.
“Last time had a lot of 1970s trivia, sports trivia. There’s usually a picture round, I think this one is going to be based on movies,” McCauley said. “If you have a good team, you’ve got quite a shot at winning.”
McCauley said about six teams showed up for the library’s June trivia night, and the event got a little competitive. She added that people can come to the library without a team assembled and they may find a crew on the evening of the game.
While this is a new initiative by the library, McCauley said it is planned to be a staple.
“I think we're going to be doing it every other month,” McCauley said.
Trivia begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the library, 218 N. McKean St. in Butler, and advance registration is not required.
