Esther Ann McCorry
Esther Ann McCorry, 86, of Butler died Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca, Pa.
She was born in Ford City on Jan. 2, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Bertha E. (Novak) Valek.
Esther graduated from Ford City High School with the Class of 1948, the Shadyside School of Nursing in 1951 and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Anesthesia in 1952.
She worked as a nurse and nurse anesthetist for many years.
She married her first husband, H. Richard McGrath, in 1957. She married her second husband, Dr. Robert C. McCorry, in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Esther was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Her many volunteer activities at St. Paul included teaching CCD and adult literacy, the pro-life movement, and making costumes for the Boar's Head Festival. She also donated to many charitable organizations.
Esther was an animal lover, especially cats, and quite the athlete in her youth. She made many new friends this past year while she resided at the Orchard in Butler. She was a strong, smart, innovative woman who didn't mince words and will be missed by the many lives she touched.
She was the beloved mother of two sons, Kevin J. McGrath and Brian G. McGrath, both of Kittanning; three daughters, Valerie A. Dallos of Aberdare, Wales, U.K., Alison D. Fox and her husband, Thomas, of Greensburg and Paula E. Cook and her husband, Mark, of Tionesta; one granddaughter, Jessica A. Dallos in Florida; one grandson, Tyler Alan Cook of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shaunna Lynn Dallos; her brother, Richard Valek; and her sister, Geraldine Vidunas.
MCCORRY — There will be no viewing for Esther Ann McCorry, who died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, as per her wishes.Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Cemetery, Butler.Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J.
