Skydivers to parachute in for St. Wendelin fundraiser Sunday
A portion of St. Wendelin Road will be shut down for about 15 to 30 minutes between 5 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, due to a skydiving event.
The approximate closure will be between 210 and 232 St. Wendelin Road.
The event will serve as a new fundraiser for St. Clare of Assisi Parish at the annual church picnic. A pair of skydivers from Skydive Pennsylvania who will parachute into a field near St. Wendelin in Oakland Township.
The skydivers are participating in a unique cash raffle. Attendees to the fundraiser will have the opportunity to purchase a numbered plate for $5, and before the skydivers arrive, all the numbered plates will be placed in the field.
When the skydivers land in the field, each one will pick up the plate closest to them. The person with the number of the first plate to be picked up will win $250, while the holder of the second plate number will win $500.
The parish picnic, which is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature a basket raffle, bingo, car cruise and games for children.
The skydiving raffle is weather permitting.
