Butler supports Main Street business in getting liquor license
One of Butler’s Main Street eateries is looking to acquire a liquor license, but needed the city’s help to get it.
Council voted unanimously Thursday, Aug. 14, to amend a previously-approved resolution to support Chop Shop, a restaurant located at 108 N. Main St., in acquiring an economic development liquor license.
The resolution was first approved in July, but required some changes in language, Mayor Bob Dandoy said.
“Chop Shop is a popular place downtown and they’re trying to get a liquor license,” Dandoy said at the prior meeting. “To do this type of license, they need the to city to say that they’re a driver for business, which is what the resolution is.”
An economic development liquor license allows businesses to bypass the current county quota of one license per 3,000 residents if they receive approval from their home municipality.
The original resolution passed in July unanimously.
