Krisko

Peggy Jean Thompson Hoffman Krisko passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2025. She was born Sept. 11, 1934, on the Thompson Homestead in Butler County, Pa. She was the daughter of the late William Chester and Grace Alberta Shealy Thompson.

Peggy married Ronald Hoffman in 1952, and they shared many years together before his passing in 1981. She later married Philip A. Krisko on April 20, 1985; he also preceded her in death in 2021.

A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Peggy was ordained as an elder in 1975. She was an active member of Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, where she served on Session. Previously, she was deeply involved in the Stoneboro Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, president of the Women’s Association, youth fellowship leader, Vacation Bible School director and director of the Living Nativity. She also served several terms on Session there.

Peggy had a heart for service and education. She taught kindergarten at a private school, worked as a nurse’s assistant in the Lakeview School District and later retired as manager of the Bruin Senior Center through the Lutheran Service Society.

An avid roller skater, Peggy taught both beginner and advanced dance classes. She also taught country line dancing and drama, bringing joy and creativity wherever she went. A graduate of Slippery Rock High School, she was especially known for her love of art. She enjoyed teaching art at senior centers and continued this passion while a resident at Orchard Manor in Grove City, where she took classes and assisted other residents.

Peggy loved performing and directing comedic skits at the Bruin Senior Center and Union Presbyterian Church, spreading laughter and fellowship throughout her community.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Black of Sandy Lake, Pa., and Brenda (Randy) King of Bass City, Nova Scotia; her son, Stephen Hoffman of Silver Springs, Fla.; and her son-in-law, Richard (Kathy) Black of Hermitage, Pa. She also is survived by her granddaughters, Tina (Ken) Steffy of Coraopolis, Pa., Kelli (Travis) Sereday of Stoneboro, Pa., and Rochelle Gillen of Cleveland, Ohio; great-granddaughters, Payton and Madeline Sereday and Kathryn Steffy; and great-grandson, Blake Sereday.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sisters, Betty Richards and Gladis Hodge; and her son, Gordon Chester Hoffman.
