John D. McGinnis, 69, of Chicora died unexpectedly at 4:50 p.m. Friday in the emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 18, 1941, in Kennerdale, he was the son of George and Mabel Montgomery McGinnis.

He was a farmer in the Chicora area all his life. He also worked on the Presline for Castle Rubber in East Butler for 26 years.

He is survived by a son, Kevin M. McGinnis of Chicora; a granddaughter, Kennedy McGinnis of Chicora; two brothers, Daniel McGinnis of Eau Claire and Ronald (Barb) McGinnis of Karns City, and several nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Snow Mcginnis, and a brother, Brian McGinnis.
