Police: Man threatens woman, damages car in Slippery Rock Cemetery

A Parker man is being held in the Butler jail after allegedly watching his ex-girlfriend at work, damaging her car and threatening to kill her in the Slippery Rock Cemetery, according to a criminal complaint.

Jacob Trufley, 33, is being charged with one felony count for prohibited possession of a firearm, two misdemeanor counts for terroristic threats and one misdemeanor count for criminal mischief following an alleged Aug. 7 incident.

State police were dispatched to Slippery Rock’s Fairfield Inn and Suites at 7:45 a.m. after a woman reported her ex-boyfriend assaulted her in the cemetery, according to the report.

The woman told police Trufley called her at work at 5:45 a.m. and said he could see her but that she would not be able to find him. He called again because she interacted with a co-worker, then threatened to harm her and others at the workplace, police said.

The woman could not find Trufley and drove to the cemetery, the report said.

Trufley and the woman reportedly argued at the cemetery, police said. He then entered her white 2012 Audi, placed the car in neutral and let it rear-end her other car, a black 2011 Volkswagen, according to the report.

Police said the argument continued until Trufley tackled the woman to the ground, held her against her will and threatened to murder her.

She told police she pulled out a multicolor 9mm handgun out of fear for her life. Eventually, she released the magazine and tossed the handgun away before fleeing Trufley on foot, the report said.

Trufley then threw the handgun over the hillside before confronting her in the Fairfield parking lot where he grabbed her throat during another argument, the court document said.

Trufley is confined in Butler County Prison. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Nash, scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.
