High school golf roundup: Slippery Rock finishes 9th at Mt. Hope Invite; Mars, North Catholic win openers
Slippery Rock boys golf finished ninth Thursday afternoon in the season-opening Mt. Hope Invitational at Mt. Hope Golf Course.
Hudson Vice’s 87 led the Rockets, followed by Drake Kreutz’s 88. Slippery Rock shot 356. Hickory won with a 311, and New Wilmington’s Santion Toscano posted a 73 to top all golfers.
Mars 184, Blackhawk 203 — Lukas Singh and Jackson Geiger led the Planets to a season-opening win, shooting 35s to pace the team. Jack Weaver shot a 37, third on the team and fifth in the field.
North Catholic 198, Avonworth 203 — Ben Kandravy shot the day’s low score at Shannopin Country Club with a 37 to help the Trojans to a 1-0 start.
(Scrimmage) Butler 182, Shaler 207 — Butler won in nine holes at Slippery Rock Golf Club in a preseason scrimmage. Boden Lenyk and Jase Renwick shot 35s, and Levi McClellan posted a 36.
