Mary Lou Walters

Mary Lou Walters, 82, of Butler died Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 21, 1931, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Bresnahan) Glace.

She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian and the Christian Women's Guild at St. Fidelis, and she had worked at the Parish fish fry's during Lent. Mary Lou was a licensed private pilot. She volunteered for the Butler Meals on Wheels for more than 20 years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved to play bridge.

Surviving are her children, Dave Walters of Butler, Thomas (Stacy) Walters of Petrolia and Sandra J. (Daniel) Sandrick of Butler; six grandchildren, Ashley Steele, Kellie Walters, Nathan Walters, Erin Slay, Brian Sandrick and Stephanie Walters; four great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Brixyn, Violet and Lincoln; and one sister, Virginia (Jay) Goettler of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hampton Walters, who she married July 15, 1950, and he died Oct. 30, 1991, and one brother, Richard Glace.

WALTERS — Friends of Mary Lou Walters, who died Sunday, July 28, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. Interment will follow in Brownsdale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Butler Meals on Wheels, 218 E.
