Woman sustains fractured wrist in alleged assault by Butler man

A woman sustained a fractured wrist and knee contusion after being assaulted by a Butler man Tuesday, July 29, on North Main Street, police said.

Stephen T. Call, 28, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor reckless endangerment following the alleged incident.

Butler city police said Call called 911 that afternoon to report he had thrown a woman on the ground who he did not know and believed was making fun of him.

A short time later, police responded to find a woman near Dunkin,’ who was then taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital, according to an affidavit.

The woman later showed police her hospital discharge paperwork, which indicated she had a left distal radius wrist fracture and left knee contusion, the affidavit said.

Call’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 18 before District Judge William Fullerton.
