The Butler County Historical Society will host a series of antique classes from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning April 19 and concluding May 10 at the Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St.

The class will focus on items made from 1780 to 1880 and participants may take items for appraisal.

Cost is $40 per person and registration is requested. To register, call 724-283-8116 or visit the historical society office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays in the National City Bank Building, Main and Jefferson Streets.

Friends of library host used book sale

The Friends of Butler Public Library will host a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and April 22 at the library, 218 N. McKean St.

Books will be sold buy one, get one free on Friday and for $3 a bag on April 22.

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Historical Society will host its annual Spring Tea at 3 p.m April 22 at Park United Presbyterian Church, Main Street.The catered tea will feature traditional sandwiches and refreshments. The event will also include a Chinese auction.Tickets are $15 each and reservations are due by Tuesday. For information or reservations, call the historical society at 724-452-9457.Tickets available for Cherry Pink LunchTickets are now available for the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's Cherry Pink Luncheon and Fashion Show, to be held April 22 at the Butler Country Club.Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon.Cost is $25 per person and tickets are available at the Cherry Tree Gift Shop at the hospital and at Truly Yours in the Clearview Mall. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

Applications are now being accepted for the William A. DiCuccio Memorial Essay Contest.Essays of 500 words or less, typed on standard paper and written on the theme "What are the qualities that a voter should look for in a candidate for political office" will be accepted through May 1.The contest is open to students at Butler, Knoch and Moniteau high schools. Entries will be judged on spelling, grammar and content. Winners will receive cash prizes.Essays should be mailed to The Butler Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1081, Butler, PA1603-1081.

CRANBERRY TWP — A Shooting for Autism basketball game pitting Seneca Valley High School students against teachers will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.The event, planned by Seneca Valley student Ashley Turici, will benefit The Autism Society of Butler County. Admission is $3 and refreshments will be available for purchase.Notices, in writing, of festivals, fundraising events, newly elected officers and other news from clubs and nonprofit groups should be sent to the Focus department one week in advance of the event. Items should include the name and phone number of the person providing the information and be sent to Focus, Butler Eagle, P.O. Box 271, Butler, PA 16003.
