Phillips

Joan M. Phillips, 89, of Harmony, formerly of Mercer, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Born Nov. 10, 1935, in Middle Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary S. Rosepilar Roman.

She was a graduate of Zelienople High School and employed as an executive secretary at U.S. Steel, and later, at Kasgro Rail Corp.

Joan was very active throughout her life and at different times enjoyed cycling, skiing, snowmobiling and running. She won her age category in numerous 5K races. She was also an avid flea marketer, specializing in vintage costume jewelry.

Joan was especially devoted to her mother, caring for her in her final years.

Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Andrew Roman; and a sister, Margaret Baker.

She is survived by her brother, George Roman of Harmony; and her nieces and nephews.

PHILLIPS — Friends and family of Joan M. Phillips, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2025, will be received from 11 a.m. until the blessing service at noon Tuesday, July 29, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Father James Wehner to officiate.

She will be laid to rest at the St. Gregory Cemetery in Zelienople.
