Marjorie Waldroup
Marjorie L. Waldroup, 81, of Chicora, passed away early Friday evening, July 18, 2025, shortly after her arrival in the emergency department at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Majorie was born in Butler on July 25, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Sr. and Hazel C. Frederick Scott.
She was a 1961 graduate of Butler Senior High School and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora. She enjoyed crocheting. She made numerous afghans as gifts for many people over the years. She loved her family and was always there to help when needed.
She met her husband when they both worked at Butler Memorial Hospital. She worked for several years for Karns City School District in the cafeteria, then as a child caregiver for two wonderful children she loved as if they were her own granddaughters, Ashton Pakutz and Abby (Pakutz) Tack.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. “Chuck” Waldroup on March 27, 2023. The couple was married at Karns City United Methodist Church on Jan. 7, 1966.
She is survived by three children, Christina L. Ellenberger, Gerald S. Waldroup and Amanda Hillwig and her husband, Erik, all of Chicora; five grandchildren, Jacob and Jeanie Ellenberger, and Kiersten, Zoey and Emily Hillwig; one stepgrandchild; one step-great-grandchild; two brothers, Thomas J. Scott Jr. and his wife, Eileen, and Robert L. Scott and his wife, Carol, all of Butler; two sisters-in-law, Emma Waldroup of Karns City and Mary Stowe and her husband, Chuck, of Parker; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald E. Scott; an infant sister, Barbara Ann Scott; and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
