As the end of summer vacation looms for many students, Verizon Wireless will be giving out backpacks at three locations in and around Butler County.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, backpacks will be given away at 170 Bon Aire Shopping Center in Butler Township; 2030 Mackenzie Way, suite 600, in Cranberry Township; and 500 Grandview Crossing Drive, suite 80, in Gibsonia.

The giveaway is part of the company’s 13th annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.”

Leftover backpacks will be donated to local schools of each store’s choice. Nationwide, the event will supply over $3 million worth of backpacks from 1,200 locations.

Registration is not required to receive a backpack at the event.
