Evans City woman accused of crashing vehicle with child in car while DUI

An Evans City woman is accused of crashing into a vehicle while driving under the influence with a child in the car.

Maya Boggess, 43, was charged Thursday, July 17, with four misdemeanor counts of DUI and one misdemeanor count each of child endangerment and controlled substance possession following a June 26 crash.

Police said they responded to a gas station on Evans City Road for reports of an intoxicated woman. Police spoke with a witness who said Boggess crashed into her vehicle and left the scene.

Police found Boggess at her home. Boggess reportedly told police she had just gotten home and had two vodka shots during the night. Police searched Boggess and found a THC vape.

Police also spoke with a juvenile in the car who said she called her father when Boggess struck another vehicle because she was afraid of her driving. She witnessed Boggess drinking, police said.

Police received the results of Boggess’ blood test July 9 and found she tested positive for THC and had a blood alcohol content of 0.278%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.

Boggess’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 6 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
