Kathleen ‘Kay’ Walters

Walters

Kathleen “Kay” Walters, 85, of Butler, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025.

She was born in Monroe, La., on Jan. 2, 1940, to the late Ralph and Ouida (Hemler) Stowell.

Kay earned her bachelor’s degree in library science. She was later employed at Mellon Bank and the Butler County Courthouse, which she enjoyed over the years.

She was a knitting and needlepoint enthusiast, member of the Rhododendron Society, avid coffee drinker and member of a local book club. Kay also enjoyed traveling all over the world — there were not many places she did not see.

Above all, she cherished spending time with her family at their home, also known as heaven on earth. She was known for being the best mom, followed by the best Nana, who loved fiercely. She was very thoughtful, kind, loyal and funny. She always made a friend everywhere she went, even if that was halfway across the country.

Kay was the beloved wife of Dr. Loyal “Spike” Walters, her soulmate, whom she married 63 years ago and lived happily ever after. She was the mother of Beth (Ron) Rodgers, Marcia (Stuart) Davis and Ryan (Jodi) Walters; sister of Linda (Terry) Max; and grandmother of eight beautiful grandchildren.

WALTERS — All services for Kathleen “Kay” Walters, who died Friday, July 11, 2025, were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
