More than 100 people gathered for a private celebration of life ceremony to honor Corey Comperatore Sunday, July 13, at the Butler Farm Show grounds.
At the event, the community heard stories about the Buffalo Township resident and firefighter who died shielding his family from gunfire at the July 13, 2024 rally for then candidate President Donald Trump.

As a result of the assassination attempt, Corey Comperatore died, two others were critically injured and Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet.
The event also debuted a life-size bronze statue of Corey Comperatore wearing his “normal dad clothes.”
Speakers at the event included his widow, Helen Comperatore, two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee Comperatore, his mother, Karen Bird, his sisters, Dawn Schafer and Kelly Meeder, and others.
