Kenneth Shumaker
Kenneth Duane Shumaker, 65, of Haines City, Fla., formerly of East Brady and Karns City, beloved husband and father, stepped into eternal life on Friday evening, June 27, 2025.
Ken was born Oct. 15, 1959, in Butler, to Duane Shumaker and Marie (Sorokes) Shumaker Evankovich.
Ken graduated from Karns City High School in 1978. He was student council president and voted “Class Favorite” his senior year. Ken studied to be an electrician at Williamsport College, and he helped run Shumaker’s Bar in Fairview, until it was sold.
In 1989, Ken married Molly Eagal, of Butler, and a year later, his daughter, Clarissa, was born in Orlando, Fla. Ken worked several jobs before being hired by the U.S. Postal Service, which was his employer until his retirement.
Ken was best known for his vibrant personality, sense of humor and his love for people. He was a musician, a foodie and a jokester. Ken was a committed Christian who professed his faith in Jesus and walked with Him until his last breath on earth.
Ken is survived by his wife of 36 years, Molly; his daughter, Clarissa; his brother, Mike Shumaker (Dianna); his niece, Amy (Shumaker) Fierst (John); his nephews, Christopher Shumaker and August Wenneker; and two great-nieces, Lilliana and Alaina Fierst.
Ken is also survived by two stepsisters, Grace Henry (Larry) and Irene Gaiser (Jim) and their families. Ken is also survived by many cousins from the Shumaker and Sorokes family lines.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Deborah; and his stepfather, Michael Evankovich.
SHUMAKER — Funeral services for Kenneth Duane Shumaker, who died Friday, June 27, 2025, are being handled by LIGHTHOUSE MEMORIALS & CREMATIONS, Winter Haven, Fla.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held in Pennsylvania, by family and friends at a later date this year.
