Butler County's great daily newspaper

Book detailing the Butler Eagle’s coverage of the assassination attempt available for purchase

Book Cover

Look back on how the local newspaper covered the assassination attempt at the campaign rally for then-candidate President Trump and its aftermath by purchasing a copy of the Butler Eagle’s “Meeting the Moment.”

This 56-page book details the Eagle’s coverage of the event and provides insight into how the reporting unfolded in the weeks and months following the July 13, 2024 event that took the life of Buffalo Township resident and former fire chief Corey Comperatore, critically injured two other spectators and led Trump to be treated for an ear wound at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was fatally shot by Secret Service.

The book is available for $20 by calling 724-431-2200 or visiting the Butler Eagle office at 514 West Wayne Street, Butler. A webpage to buy the book is forthcoming.
