Penn Township to get multifamily unit
PENN TWP — The community is slated to have its first multifamily unit by the end of 2026.
Supervisors voted to approve conditional use and the site plan for a building at the intersection of Dodds Road and Route 8 during a meeting on Tuesday, July 8.
The project by Woodbrook Builders will include three two-bedroom units at the base with three more above. There will be parking at the front and back so that all residents can enter on the ground floor.
Previous homes in Penn Township had no more than two units, land use administrator Clinton Bonetti said during the meeting.
Woodbrook Builders’ owner, Tom Brucker, said he spent 18 months gathering permits for the project. The conditional use and site plan were the last approvals needed to begin construction.
“This was the cherry on top,” Brucker said, in regards to the meeting. “It’s been a long road”
He claimed the project was born out of a need for housing in Penn Township. He alleged the area’s population is projected to grow, and this is backed up by traffic studies.
“Being a long time resident and owning a construction company myself, I’ve gotten many, many calls over the years with people asking for something like this,” he said.
Three community members offered Brucker their congratulations after the meeting.
“I think this will be a nice project for the community,” Brucker said. “It’s exciting because it’s the first of its kind in the area.”
