Pauline McCool Holmes, 84, of Slippery Rock, passed away peacefully with loving family at her side on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at AHN Grove City.

She was born on Prairie Street in Harrisville on May 30, 1941, to Paul Francis McCool and Mary Alice Robinson McCool.

In earlier years, she enjoyed roller skating, riding motorcycles and deer hunting. She was an excellent seamstress, loved the outdoors and gardening. In her youth, she participated in the Grove City Plaidettes and Harrisville High Hatters. She was formerly employed at the Family Tradition Restaurant in Harrisville and Kerr’s Furniture Store in Butler. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by daughter, Dixie L. Hogue of Slippery Rock; and son, Steven A. (Deana) Holmes of Slippery Rock; grandchildren, Danielle (Tim) Busi of Slippery Rock, Todd Hogue of Boston, Mass., and Ansley Holmes of Slippery Rock; and great-grandson, Levi Busi of Slippery Rock.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, William E. Holmes; and fiancé, Raymond Gibbons; son-in-law, Jeff Hogue; brother, John Paul “Mick” McCool; and sisters, Betty Lou Bailey and Alice Bonita “Bonnie” Van Dyke.

HOLMES — The family of Pauline McCool Holmes, who died Sunday, July 6, 2025, will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. There will be a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12.

Interment will follow at Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.

Memorial contributions may be given in Pauline’s memory to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
