PITTSBURGH — Authorities aren't citing the owner of a dog that bit two people on a US Airways flight to Phoenix and forced an emergency landing in Pittsburgh.

Authorities say the 89-year-old New Jersey woman was traveling with her dog, Mandy, on Flight 522 from Newark, N.J., to Phoenix on Monday when the dog became agitated. A passenger tried to calm the dog when it bit the passenger and broke out of its cage.

The bites were not severe, but the pilot landed the plane as a precaution.

CANONSBURG — A Pennsylvania town has removed a Nativity scene from the borough building after a resident complained.Canonsburg Borough Manager Terry Hazlett tells the Observer-Reporter of Washington that he received a written complaint last week from resident Megan Hartley. She wrote that the creche was disrespectful to citizens who aren't Christian and that it shouldn't be displayed at a government building.

PITTSBURGH — A suspect wanted in the November shooting death of a man has been found hiding under a pile of clothes.The U.S. Marshal’s office said officials with the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force found 24-year-old Abraham Mitchell on Monday in the basement of a Coraopolis home. He was one of two people wanted by authorities in the shooting death of Duerryl Whitaker.The other suspect, 21-year-old Bradley Smith, was arrested the night of the shooting.
