A car fire had to be extinguished by firefighters early Thursday morning, July 3, after it collided with a pole on Valencia Road in Forward Township.

The crash was reported around 6:30 a.m. and occurred just north of West Road. Callery Volunteer Fire Company, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department and state police responded to the scene.

David Elliott, a resident on Valencia Road, said the car continued past the pole and came to a stop in the road. It caught on fire shortly after striking the pole.

The car fire was extinguished by firefighters and removed from the road before power crews installed a new pole. Elliott said power was restored to his house by 9:30 a.m., and thanked West Penn Power for their quick work.
