Lackawanna College will join PSAC as conference’s 18th member, make leap from NJCAA to D-II
The PSAC announced last week it has extended an invitational for Lackawanna College to join the conference as its 18th member.
The announcement means Lackawanna would transition from the National Junior College Athletic Association to NCAA Division II. According to the PSAC, it would be the third college to make that direct jump and the first with a football program.
The league and school did not announce a year the transition would take place.
“We are excited to offer Lackawanna College membership to the PSAC and to support them on their path toward membership in NCAA Division II,” PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray said in a statement. “It is a new era in collegiate athletics, and this is a new paradigm for the PSAC as we welcome Lackawanna to the Conference.”
