Madeline Toogood
Madeline Claire (O’Boyle) Toogood, 85, of Butler, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
Born Nov. 8, 1939, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Valentine O’Boyle and Wilhelmina E. Evans O’Boyle Enders.
Madeline was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother who was always eager to help with projects around the house and in the garden. She belonged to the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler, and formerly served as its treasurer. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, needlepoint and cooking, but, above all, she loved her family and the Word of God.
She was a faithful member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Madeline is survived by her loving husband, R. James Toogood, whom she married May 16, 1959; four children, Jay Toogood of Vero Beach, Fla., Christopher Toogood of Butler, Megan Willison and her husband, Ron, of Butler, and Matthew Toogood of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, B. Paul O’Boyle and his wife, Jackie, of McMurray, Pa.; one stepsister, Mary Lou Winkler of Fairfax, Va.; and one stepsister-in-law, Mary Ann Enders of Cranberry Township.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Toogood, Nicole (husband, Eric Peterson) Toogood, Anthony (Erica) Willison, Katie (Eric) Wilson, Marissa (husband, Logan Wolfe) Toogood, Andrew (fiancée, Kylie Wright) Willison and Christen (husband, Matthew Zorc) Toogood; 16 great-grandchildren with another due in September; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, Robert Enders and Paul “Bink” Enders and his wife, Charlotte.
TOOGOOD — Friends of Madeline Claire (O’Boyle) Toogood, who died Thursday, June 26, 2025, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with the Rev. James Kurtz, OFM Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
