S. Butler hires architect for high school project

The first step has been taken toward a long-awaited renovation project at Knoch High School.

The South Butler County School Board at its Wednesday meeting approved hiring VEBH Architects for the high school renovation project.

Superintendent David Foley said the board and administration are ready to move forward with the design of the project.

He said architects from VEBH will work with parents, administration and the board to come up with a design determining what the renovation project will include.

Foley said the high school has not seen any renovations since 1995.

He said science, STEM and academic spaces throughout the school are a school board priority in the interest of student success.

Upgrades also are needed in the cafeteria area, fine arts, athletic department and roof, Foley said.

VEBH officials told the board that the design will take nine to 12 months.

The board is also in talks with its bond firm regarding financing for the high school renovation project.

Foley said costs for the renovations will not be known until the architects complete the design phase.
