Fair reopens; flood watch still in effect

The National Weather Service placed Butler and surrounding counties under a flood watch until midnight tonight.

A bulletin from NWS Pittsburgh said flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. The flood watch is in effect from this afternoon, June 27, until 12 a.m., June 28.

“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas,” the bulletin read.

At approximately 5 p.m., the fair shut down temporarily due to heavy rains, but has since reopened.
