Shirley Gorog
Shirley H. Gorog, 82, of Freeport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Shirley was born in Natrona Heights, on March 7, 1943, a daughter of Ruth (Mainhart) Henry of Freeport and the late Robert M. Henry. She was a graduate of the Class of 1961 from Freeport High School, where she performed with the Yellow Jackets as a majorette.
After high school, she attended Mason Felix beauty school and obtained her license as a beautician while working at G.C. Murphy's. She was the head of the advertising department at Valley News Dispatch Western Pennsylvania Printing in Tarentum, for 23 years.
Shirley loved being part of the Girl Scouts with her daughter and lead the bowling league as the secretary, historian and manager of awards. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport. Shirley enjoyed going to flea markets, was magical at planning family vacations and always made everyone feel loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Albert and Belle Mainhart; and paternal grandparents, Septimus and Dorothy Henry.
Family who will carry on her legacy are her husband of 63 years, Robert Gorog; her son, Mark (Gloria) Gorog of South Buffalo Township; and her daughter, Michelle (Luca) Roseano of Navarre, Fla. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Robert (Janna) Gorog and Jack, Julia, Luke and Luna Roseano; brother, Donald (Linda) Henry; and two sisters, Jane (Leonard) Burd and Jean Henry.
She is also survived by stepgrandchildren, Kori (Jim) Hill and Clint (Niki Nowatkowski) Skillen; two stepgreat-grandchildren, John (Leslie) Hill and Katie (Dylan) Beachem; two great-great-grandchildren, Colby and Cami Hill; and Eileen Collins, who was her lifelong friend and helped with her care.
GOROG — Family and friends of Shirley H. Gorog, who died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Gorog officiating.
Burial will be held in Brookland Cemetery, Leechburg.
