William 'Bill' Long

William "Bill"James Long, 71, of West Liberty Road, Slippery Rock, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Grove City Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1935, in Isle, he was the son of Charles Oscar and Bernice Myrtle McDeavitt Long.

He retired after 40 years as a machinist for Satec Systems in Grove City.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and the Boyers Sportsmen Club.

He married Elizabeth "Betty" C. Long, on April 23, 1955, and she survives.

He also is survived by six sons, William Dennis, Randy Ray and Thomas Duane Long, all of Slippery Rock, Donald James and Ronald Edward Long of Harrisville, and Donald Leon Stewart of West Sunbury; two sisters, Marilyn Peterson of Minnesota and Carol Courtney of Ohio; a brother, Charles D. Long of Harrisville; 11 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

<B>LONG</B>— Friends of William "Bill" James Long, who died Tuesday,Dec. 26, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lewis of West Liberty United Methodist Church officiating.
