Gerald L. Young
Gerald L. Young, 73, of Elko, Nev., lost his battle with cancer on May 28.
Jerry, as he was known to his friends, was born Sept. 18 1937, in Butler. He was the son of Glenn W. and Lila R. Young.
He entered the Navy at the age of 18, and
there he served his country for 4 years on the USS Tripoli.In 1985, he meet Maria Roman, and in 1990 they married.Jerry spent most of his life in the steel business and retired in 1999, but shortly after went to work for Wells Propane. He retired from there to join the crew at Ruby View golf course keeping the greens in tiptop shape.Jerry was an avid hunter, loved playing golf and loved spending time with his family and friends.Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Maria Roman-Young; a daughter, Jerilyn Brown (son-in-law, Rick Brown); a sister, Connie Parsons (brother-in-law, Miles Parsons); grandchildren, Emme Brown and Thatcher Brown; niece, Ashley Faller (husband, Jeff Faller); stepchildren, Joseph L. Roman and Maria L Roman; and many other nephews and nieces.He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn W. Young, and his mother, Lila R. Young.He will be missed, but he is no longer in pain. We will see you again.
