William A. Forsythe
William August "Willie" Forsythe, 93, of 428 Eberhart Road, Butler, died Tuesday afternoon at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born May 18, 1917, in Butler Township, he was a son of the late William Edward and Veronica (Males) Forsythe.
He was a 1936 graduate of Butler High School and had worked for the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler for 40 years.
A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Willie was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church, the William H. Miller Masonic Lodge 769 in Butler, the Meridian Veterans Club and the Butler Pilots Club. He had enjoyed flying and was a commercial instructor.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Viola (Brown) Forsythe, whom he married Feb. 4, 1944; two daughters, Darlaine Thompson and Loraine Bowser and her husband, Mike, all of Butler; a son, Russell Edward Forsythe and his wife, Rose, of Butler; four grandchildren, Heather Thompson of Slippery Rock, Jennifer Pittore of Ohio, Jessica Bowser of Colorado and Cayce Kavanagh of Butler; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Pittore.
<B>Forsythe </B>—<B> </B>Friends of William August "Willie" Forsythe, who died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Porter, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.The Meridian Veterans Club will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
