Roy Eugene Deal Sr.
Roy Eugene Deal Sr., 80, of East Butler went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in North Washington to the late Lawrence and Jennie (Collingwood) Deal.
Mr. Deal was a member of the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church in Butler. He was a greeter and usher at his church for many years and also served as a trustee.
He worked at Castle Rubber for 12 years. He then worked at Don Black’s Esso Station in Bon Aire for five years. Mr. Deal worked at Portman Dairy while also working for the Shriver Bus Co. He retired from Sunbeam Coal in 1993 after 18 years. After retirement he worked at the Butler Auto Auction from 2000 to 2008.
He was a former scoutmaster in East Butler.
Mr. Deal especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at family gatherings and reunions. He enjoyed listening to southern gospel and county music. He was a member of the Tanglewood Center, and he enjoyed collecting vintage cars and coins.
Mr. Deal is survived by his three sons, Roy Deal Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Butler, Terry Deal and his wife, Brenda, of Karns City and Daniel Deal and his wife, Debbie, of Butler; and his three daughters, Deborah Schulter of Butler, Kathleen Deal of Butler and Marcia Grates and her husband, Danny, of East Butler. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret “Peg” Cook of Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marceda Belle Deal, who he married on June 21, 1952, and who passed away on Sept. 24, 2010, and his two brothers, Howard “Lee” Deal and John Deal.
Deal — The friends of Roy Eugene Deal Sr., who passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Visitation will also be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way-Fared Drive, Butler. The funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Richard Jenks and Van Brenlove officiating.
