Ida Belle Gallagher
Ida Belle Gallagher, 89, of Parker passed away early Thursday morning at Laurel Brook Medical Care in Brookville following an illness.
Born Jan. 25, 1920, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mina Flick Mitchell.
Ida Belle graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1937.
She was employed in the grocery store business, along with her late husband, Willard "Tim" Gallagher, most of her adult life. They operated Gallagher's Market in Dutch Hill for many years. In 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher built a grocery, restaurant and automobile repair service facility near Callensburg. She formally retired from all retail services March 30, 1985.
Ida Belle married Willard "Tim" Gallagher in Rimersburg, Dec. 24, 1937, and he passed away March 1, 1974.
A Protestant, she was an active member of the United Methodist Women in Callensburg for many years and was associated with the Park Hill Church of God at West Freedom at the time of her passing.
Surviving are two sons, Gary "Doe" Gallagher of Callensburg and Dan Gallagher and wife, Melissa, of Parker R.D.; a daughter-in-law, Judith "Judy" Gallagher of Parker; four grandchildren, Todd Gallagher of Richmond, Va., Marni Dreher of Columbus, Ohio, Michael Gallagher of Sligo and Sue Ann Smith of Pine City, near Knox; seven great-grandchildren, Lexan and Landon DeLisio, Tim and Tara Gallagher, Laken Dreher and Anya and Ella Gallagher; one brother, Lloyd Mitchell of Clarion.; and also a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debbie DeLisio on June 9, 1995; two sisters, Mildred Yates and Doris Fowler; and an infant brother, James Mitchell.
<B>GALLAGHER</B> Friends of Ida Belle Gallagher, who died Thursday, April 9, 2009, may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. There will be no visitation on Easter Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bessie Maihle, a retired United Methodist minister, officiating.
