State Rep. Stephenie Scialabba, R-12th, is helping to spearhead a two-bill package to encourage artificial intelligence companies to develop in Pennsylvania.

Scialabba, joined by state Reps. Joe D’Orsie, R-47th, and Robert Leadbeter, R-109th, are expected to introduce the package to the state House of Representatives in the near future. The proposed legislation would expand tax credits to AI companies and establish an AI consortium.

The tax credit would expand upon the existing semiconductor manufacturing tax credit to include a new AI development tax credit.

The AI consortium would be tasked with vetting potential regulatory barriers, convening AI stakeholders and recommending legislation that aims to provide guardrails while fostering opportunity in the field.

After the bill is introduced, it will need to pass through the state House and Senate and be signed into law by the governor.
