Body found in Allegheny Twp. garage destroyed by fire

A large police and fire presence were on scene at a garage fire in Allegheny Township on Monday morning.

State police and the coroner are at the scene of at a home in Allegheny Township following an early morning garage fire that led to the discovery of a body.

Trooper Dan Kesten said authorities were called to the home on Locust Lane in Parker, off Foxburg Road, just before 8 a.m.

Kesten said the woman who lives in the home reported her estranged husband, against whom she had a protection from abuse order, had entered the home a short time earlier and then left.

The woman told state police she heard gunshots and looked out her window to see that the garage was on fire, according to Kesten.

Police and fire crews responded and police cleared the scene before firefighters could knock down the garage fire. A body was later discovered in the garage, Kesten said, but had not been identified.

The Eagle will update this story as more information becomes available.
