In Loving Memory of Rosa “Mama Rosa” Fusca

With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Rosa Fusca, known to many as “Mama Rosa,” who departed this life Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 96. She now joins her beloved husband, Nicola, and rests in the peace of the Lord.

Rosa Fusca, came to America from Maierato, Reggio Calabria, Italy, with her three children in 1961 to join her husband, Nicola Fusca, who came here a year prior to get a home ready for his family. Shortly after getting settled, they had their fourth child in 1963.

For over 50 years, Mama owned and operated restaurants in both Pittsburgh and Butler, her famous pasta sauce is still sold in local grocery stores. Mama Rosa loved the art of cooking, but also, more than that, she loved to be around and talk to people.

Rosa is survived by her children, Lisa Fusca Barron, Frank Fusca, Josephine Fusca and Nicholas Fusca (Nicole); grandchildren, Brendon Barron, Nicholas Barron (Carrie), Sarah Unruh (Michael), Nicole Fusca, Antonio Fusca and Luca Fusca. She was also a great-grandmother to her 12 great-grandchildren.

FUSCA — A viewing for Rosa Fusca, who died Friday, June 6, 2025, will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, June 9 at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME, Pittsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw.

Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Garden.
