Robert Dandoy, an English teacher at Karns City High School, recently attended the National Council of Teachers of English Affiliate Leadership Meeting in Myrtle Beach, S.C.A Butler resident, he attended as a regional representative of the council's Standing Committee on Affiliates.The meeting had sessions on educational concerns such as the No Child Left Behind Act and working with English language learners.

The Paul Laurence Dunbar Community Center announced that it has received a donation of $962.04 from the

P.M. Rotary Club of Butler.The funds will be used to purchase equipment for the Strong Women Program and to further implement the Sports Play and Active Recreation for Kids program.Orientation for the Strong Women fitness and strength training program will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Glade Run Lutheran Services in Zelienople recently presented

Dr. Janet Montelaro of Wexford with the Knights of Kingdom Award.A retired English professor from the University of Pittsburgh, Montelaro is an active volunteer at Medeer Cottage, a group home for adolescent girls. At the cottage, she has implemented a journaling club and donates time each week to teach life skills to the residents.Awarded during Glade Run's Society of 1854 Annual Dinner, the award recognizes individuals who have contributed significant time, talent or support the mission of Glade Run Lutheran Services.Winners at the
