Reeder
Reeder will be new president

The Butler County Federation of Women's Clubs recently installed Donna Reeder as president for the 2006-08 administration.

Reeder has chosen the theme "Let the Federation Light Continue to Shine." She plans to promote child safety, which will also be the focus of the state federation for the next two years.

Other officers include Vice President Bernice Durand, Secretary Maria Blose and Treasurer Jackie Bice.

The Butler County Federation unites eight Butler County women's clubs. Reeder previously served the federation as vice president, ways and means chairwoman and public relations chairwoman.

A 29-year member of the Intermediate League of Butler, Reeder served as president from 1992 to 1994, and previously held many offices and chairmanships within the club. She served as the Antiques Show and Sale chairwoman in 2000 for the show's 50th anniversary. This year, Reeder will serve the club as public affairs chairwoman, finance committee member and Antique Show business manager.

At the state level of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, Reeder serves as Public Affairs Department and Safety Program chairwoman. She previously served as public relations chairwoman, Pennsylvania Convention music chairwoman and secretary for the Southwestern District.

Reeder was chosen to represent the state during a leadership seminar at the GFWC International Convention in Denver, Colo.

Reeder is an active member, charter member and former treasurer of the Butler County Circle of Presidents.

Reeder is a member of Soroptimist International of Butler County and a docent at the Maridon Museum in Butler. She has also served on the planning committee for the museum's annual Chinese New Year fundraiser.

In the community, she serves as a literacy tutor at McQuistion Elementary School and assists with productions at the Butler Little Theatre. She is an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Center Township.

Reeder is retired after working for 36 years as a teacher in the Butler School District. She is a life member of the National Educators Association and Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

She lives in Center Township with her husband, Joe. They have one son.
