Missy Barto
In loving memory of Missy Barto who was tragically taken from us eight years ago today, June 8. 2017.
THE GIRL WITH THE PURPLE BUTTERFLY TATTOO
Miss Attitude
Miss Drama Queen
Miss laugh so loud at everything
That was Missy
She was hard working and dedicated
She was driven and passionate
She cared for everyone she met
That was Missy
Nothing about her was ordinary
She couldn’t be if she tried
You don’t blend in with a smile like that
No, you simply shine
And so she did
But she wasn’t selfish with her smile
She shared it with everyone around
Her smile was so powerful
It even got passed down
To a little girl
That changed our world
And will make her mommy proud
We’re all really going to miss you, Missy
But I know why you couldn’t stay
You see, Grandma Colleen just had to have her way
Heaven wasn’t enough to please her
And God got tired of Gram whining
About how she missed you too much
So as she requested,
He sent her favorite grand-daughter up
Missy, your life was taken from us far too soon
And we’ll never forget the week in June
When the days of heat
Fell ice cold
To play once more
Like children do
To be as innocent as they are too
If only we could
Now it’s time to say goodbye
To watch your free spirit fly
We wonder why,
But Jesus knew
My heart will carry the memory of you
For as long as I exist
I long to meet you again someday
To join in Heaven’s bliss.
