Pittsburgh teen arrested after alleged armed robbery attempt
A teen was arrested Friday, June 6, in connection with an attempted armed robbery on a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus using a gun stolen from a Butler County business, according to reports from TV stations WPXI and KDKA.
According to news reports, a 15-year-old is one of four suspects in the alleged robbery of a woman on May 29.
The woman’s husband intervened, causing a physical altercation in which one of the suspects pulled a handgun, police say. The husband wrestled the gun away and gave it to his wife, who left the bus with it. Police later recovered the gun and found it to have been stolen from Keystone Shooting Center in Mars.
Following the incident, law enforcement utilized surveillance footage to search for the suspects.
On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Public Schools police identified one of the individuals as a former student, according to police.
The individual was arrested Friday morning and charged as an adult with robbery, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm by a minor and reckless endangerment.
Police said the investigation into the other suspects is ongoing.
