Moniteau students speak at commencement
Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School graduated approximately 65 students on Tuesday, June 3. The commencement ceremony was at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A baccalaureate service took place at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium.
The valedictorian is Sydney Bayless, the daughter of Scott and Heather Bayless, of West Sunbury. Throughout her high school career, Sydney was active in sports. She was a part of the volleyball team for four years, basketball team for three years and was a sideline cheerleader for one year. Sydney was a part of many school clubs: student council for two years, serving as its vice president; she was a senior class officer for one year as vice president; was in FFA for four years; prom committee for one year; and National Honor Society for one year. Outside of school, Sydney was an active member of the Penn-Ohio Barrel Racing Association. Sydney’s future plans are to attend Butler County Community College’s three-year R.N program.
The salutatorian is Morgan Teets, the daughter of Josh and Jodi Teets, of Slippery Rock. She was an active member in FFA for four years where she served as president, secretary and treasurer. She was the junior and senior representative in Extreme Leadership. She was in student council for three years and is vice president of the National Honor Society. She has been active in 4-H for 10 years and is the 2024 Big Butler Fair Queen. When Morgan is not in school, she can be found working with her livestock. She shows pigs, lambs, steers and goats across Pennsylvania and surrounding states. One of her best memories was winning champion senior swine showman in back to back years at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. She plans to attend Penn State University to study animal science, then continue her education at a different school to get her doctorate degree to be a veterinarian. She is beyond excited to start this new journey of life.
