PITTSBURGH — A blogger who praised the fatal shootings of three Pittsburgh police officers last year has been sentenced to 2Z\x years in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms.
The FBI began investigating 32-year-old Hardy Lloyd, of Crafton, after he posted a picture of himself holding a rifle on a website where he also praised the April 2009 police shootings.
Lloyd isn't allowed to have weapons because he was on probation at the time for illegally possessing a firearm in a 2004 case in which he was also acquitted on charges that he shot a woman. Lloyd had claimed self-defense.
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh's school board has approved a settlement with a woman who claimed the district did nothing to stop bullying that caused her daughter's anorexia, but the woman's lawyer can't find her.Attorney Edward Olds says the woman ceased communications with him after the Pittsburgh Public Schools board approved the $55,000 settlement in May.
PITTSBURGH — A developer wants to turn a former state office building in downtown Pittsburgh into apartments.Millcraft Industries said Tuesday it wants to convert the former office building into 218 units known as the River Vue Apartments. Most of the apartments would be one bedroom or efficiency units and there would also be two two-story townhouses on the top floors. Rents would range from about $800 a month to $3,000 a month.Officials say the facade of the building would change very little.
