Earl O. Sangermano

Earl O. Sangermano, 92, of Butler died early Friday.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1925 in Ambridge, a son of the late Umile and Concetta Brogno Sangermano.

He came to Butler in 1952 to manage the Kroger Grocery store on Pillow Street.

He was a dedicated husband and father, who along with his late wife Dorothy, was the retired owner of the former North Main Street Shop-N-Save for 20 years.

A longtime member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, he was devoted to his faith.

He was a lifetime member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a former board member of the Butler Country Club.

He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army-Airforce where he served in the 511th Fighter Bomber Squadron. His unit was the right-hand flank for General Patton.

Surviving are his devoted daughter, Cheryl A. Sangermano of Butler; a brother, Joseph C. Sangermano of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Sangermano, whom he married Sept. 5, 1949. She passed away May 21, 2013. He was also predeceased by four brothers.

SANGERMANO — Friends of Earl O. Sangermano, who died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.

Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to St. Anthony School for Exceptional Children, now called St. Anthony School Programs, 2000 Corporate Dr., Suite 580, Wexford, PA 15090.
