John 'Paul' Duffy

John Paul Duffy

John “Paul” Duffy, 72, of Mars died Saturday afternoon in the comfort of his home with his family at his side after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

Born in Homestead on July 25, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Kender Duffy. When Paul's father died, he took over as patriarch in keeping the family together.

Paul was a self-employed sales manufacturer's representative for Building Products Companies. He was a member of the National Sash and Door Jobbers Association from 1975 to 1992.

Paul was an avid sailor and enjoyed sailing all types of boats. He also loved water skiing and snow skiing and was a member of the Mon Valley Ski Club from 1969 to 1972. Paul, Joyce and Patrick have traveled for many years and visited the United States as well as more than 30 countries.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce, who he married on Nov. 5, 1975; his son, John “Patrick” Duffy of Mars; a sister, Louise Duffy in Florida; and two brothers, Richard Duffy, and his wife, Annie, of Pleasant Hills, Pa., and Eugene Duffy, and his wife, Debbie, of Conneaut Lake. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews.

DUFFY— Friends of John “Paul” Duffy, who died Saturday, June 9, 2012, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Blessing services will follow at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev.
